Theft of metal across the country is said to be worth £360m per year and is increasing at an alarming rate. This illegal industry is being targeted by 38 police forces. The stolen metal includes drain covers, metal from church roofs and TELEPHONE CABLE.

0870 Changes: No date yet

Changes to 0870 due to come into force on 1 February have been deferred due to health & safety concerns associated with pre-call announcements. Ofcom announced this in a letter sent to the NTS Focus Group on 14th November but has made no further public statement on a likely revised date.
